OCO Biomedical have been in business since 1977, OCO Biomedical, formerly known as the “O” Company, has been producing state-of-the-art, user friendly dental implant technology with a mission to create extraordinary success in dental implantology.
After patenting the O-ring/O-Ball attachment system in 1980, OCO licensed their attachment technology to most of the major implant companies at the time. In the mid to late 80’s, OCO created their first root form dental implant, and had about 4 subsequent generations of implants until they created a 3.0mm one-piece mini implant, which was the first 3.0mm one-piece of its kind. OCO dental implants had great success with the 3.0mm, so they have also created a 3.25, 4.0, and 5.0mm one-piece implant (the ISI). To further improve the one-piece’s initial stability, OCO have changed the tip from a drilling tip, to an auger, bull nose tip designed to lock into the apex of the bone and stimulate bone growth. This feature currently is in the patent pending stage at the US patent office. Combined with the locking action of the mini threads at the collar of the implant, OCO dental implants have Dual Stabilization, which mechanically locks the top and bottom of the implant into place allowing for immediate loading. See the attached technology page.
All of OCO Biomedical current implants, the ISI, TSI, ERI, and I-Mini have a greater than 99% reported success rate, meaning out of the thousands of implants they have only a handful of failures.
OCO Biomedical dental system was created by an actual dentist that has been placing implants for 43 years. Many other companies have engineers that never have placed implants create the body designs. Dr. David Dalise continually refines the implants, placement techniques, and quality of materials to make their system the least invasive, easiest to place, and the most successful.
Most other systems are created for delayed loading, meaning they want the implants to integrate before they place an abutment, temporary or final crown. Their implants have rounded tips, non-aggressive thread patterns, and are mostly two-piece in design (meaning the costs go up for the patient). Our system is designed to be put in function immediately (as long as the bone quality is good enough), and any of the patient’s occlusal problems have been corrected that could cause the implant to fail. In other words, if you haven’t figured out (and corrected) why the original tooth failed, the implant has no chance of succeeding (ie. occlusal problems, bruxism, tongue thrusting, etc.).
The one-and-two piece body designs are the same, meaning the dentist can remove the one-piece if the bone quality isn’t great and place the two-piece.
There are also very few larger diameter one-piece implants in the market. Other companies are starting to produce larger one-piece implants, but they don’t have Dual Stabilization, and most of them haven’t figured out that the design of the final drill is also part of the secret to why OCO Biomedical dental implants are so effective. The drill is specially designed to maximize bone to thread fixation. It is also designed not to create pressure on bone (which causes bone resorption). It is just enough for the threads to perfectly lock into bone and create dual stabilization, allowing for immediate loading. Many other systems that boast immediate loading try drilling a much smaller hole and wedging an implant in to create the illusion that the implant is locked; however that puts stress on all parts of the bone which causes it to resorb and the implant loosens. OCO dental implant creates a perfect biomechanical lock into the bone without that great amount of stress, and our tip pulls bone up and around the threads causing tension on bone growth. This tension promotes bone growth.
OCO Biomedical is really catching people’s attention around the world and in the US. OCO Biomedical is creating distributorships in Central America (through New Smile), the Caribbean (New Smile/Dental Implant Centres of the Americas), Turkey, Pakistan, as well as having established distributorships in Taiwan, and South Korea.
OCO Biomedical is currently applying for ISO Certification & for our CE Mark (to sell in Canada and in Europe) and they should get it by the 3rd quarter of this year.
